PRP Therapy For Ankle Foot Pain

For acute and chronic pain in the ankle and foot, including arthritis, cartilage injuries, plantar fasciitis, osteochondral lesions and posterior tibial tendonitis, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy is a superior alternative to conventional treatments, including surgery.

The process begins by extracting an individual’s blood platelets through a small sample taken from bone marrow or fat tissues. With numerous growth factors and healing properties, the platelets are isolated in a centrifuge, and a small amount of plasma volume is injected into the area of pain or injury.

For torn ligaments or tendons in the foot and ankle, PRP therapy works to stimulate healing. In arthritic conditions, PRP treatments have proven to reduce inflammation and even reverse the degenerative process. For those facing invasive surgical procedures and lengthy recoveries, platelet rich plasma (PRP) therapy provides a life-changing solution and the hope for complete healing.

Given their capability to facilitate the body’s natural healing mechanisms, enhance the recovery of damaged tissues, signal new blood vessel formation, and the regeneration of bone, stem cells contain rich blood platelets that attract growth factors to injured or damaged areas. In effect, stem cells have been utilized to treat ankle arthritis and instability, peroneal tendon tear or split, ligament sprains, sub-talar arthritis and instability, tarsal tunnel syndrome, plantar fasciitis, bunions, Achilles tendonitis, and other painful conditions of the ankle and foot.

Treatment begins by extracting a small sample of a patient’s blood. The blood is then spun at high speeds in a centrifuge machine, which separates the protein-rich stem cells from the rest of the blood.

Next, the stem cells are injected directly into the area of damage in the ankle or foot where they amplify healing. Since injured tendons receive very little blood, healing is notoriously slow. Thus, stem cell treatments provide an exceptional alternative for ankle and foot pain relief and injuries.
